Being a member of WOMEN IN FILM, I try to take advantage of as many opportunities as possible. This week I got to go to a super cool exciting premiere of HBO’s GIRLS with a Q&A afterward with the multi-hyphenate, Lena Dunham. The girl has got it going on, literally. I wanted to hear what she had to say about creating her own show and how she got it picked up since she’s where I’m going. TV with a show she created and stars in amongst other duties. I loved the show and everything she had to say. She’s got a niche and I’ve got mine. Seems to be all a matter of time and LOTS of ball busting. She even busts Judd Apatow’s every once in awhile. And of course I couldn’t resist a red carpet moment with my friend, Lauren DeLong.

I was asked by another funny gal to be in an all female line up to do standup. I haven’t done standup since I started writing my one woman show last year. So this will be interesting. My friend, Heather Ho , who was just on Parks and Rec, is in the line up. It should be a fun night of free comedy. That’s right, I said free. Who can beat that? Get your butt down to Busby’s East at 8pm hosted by Erin Darling .
It’s official! I’m going to be a participant in the Hollywood Fringe Festival in June. I have 4 show dates up on my website. Tickets will be available closer to the run. I booked Fringe Central itself, which is at the Open Fist this year. Looking forward to it.

I went back to my hometown for a run of my one woman show “Confessions of a Cat Lady (with a side of crazy!)” for 3 nights in a row. This is a pic on the way to my first show with my “cat-tourage.” The run resulted in lots of old friends, laughter, and bruises. Altogether, my first festival run on the road was an absolute success. I got a taste of what it’s like to walk into a space for the first time with my own material and make the best of what space I am given. Janitor closet for a green room…no problem. Pushing show time to wait for the tech guy…no sweat. Well, there was a lot of sweat but it all came out fine. The adrenaline came in handy for my high energy show. I can handle anything now. Except babies. Still pushing that one back another year at least, much to my mom’s chagrin. So she adopted another dog. She’s like me, but instead of cats, it’s dogs.
February was not only short and sweet, but busy and sweet. I shot two things this month. One was for College Humor and should be out soon. OK GO, one of my favorite bands from nowadays, stars in the video. It was pretty funny and I can’t wait to post it when it’s done. The other shoot was a short film shot on location in John Wayne’s State Park. It was an amazing location, right by the ocean. I played a lady walking her dog and who is then harassed by the main character. Turns out, they needed a dog, so Eowyn got cast too. She was so exhausted at the end of the day she laid down in the backseat of my car and slept the whole way home, and never left her bed the next day. It’s hard to be a star!
